PoseLab
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-07
PoseLab helps you find a pose and take a better photo. We built it so that your photos never leave your phone unless you send them somewhere yourself. This policy explains, in plain words, what the app handles and why.
Who we are
PoseLab is made by Dhaval Dabhoya ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: svastsys.tech@gmail.com.
The short version
- Your photos stay on your phone. We never upload them.
- The camera and pose matching run on your phone. Camera frames are not sent anywhere.
- An account is optional. If you sign in, we keep your favourites and preferences so they follow you.
- PoseLab shows ads from Google AdMob. Personalised ads are used only if you allow it. PoseLab Pro members see no ads.
- PoseLab Pro is an optional subscription bought through Apple. We never see your card or payment details.
- We don't sell your personal data.
1. Photos and the camera
Photos you take in PoseLab are saved inside the app on your phone. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. A photo leaves the app only when you choose "Save to Photos" or share it yourself. Deleting a photo in the app deletes it from the app for good.
The camera is on only while the camera screen is open. Pose matching (comparing your body position with the chosen pose) is done on your phone by Apple's built-in Vision framework; no camera image or body position is sent to us.
If you pick a photo from your library to use as an overlay, it is used on your phone only while the camera is open.
2. Using PoseLab without an account (Guest)
Everything works as a guest. Your favourites, preferences and photos are stored on your phone only.
3. If you sign in (Google or Apple)
Signing in lets your favourites and preferences follow you to another phone. We use Google Firebase Authentication to sign you in. Depending on the sign-in you choose, Firebase receives your name, email address and a user ID from Google or Apple. With "Sign in with Apple" you can choose to hide your email address.
We store, in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore, only: the IDs of the poses you marked as favourites, who you are posing for, the kinds of photos you picked, your notification choice and your camera defaults (frame, timer, grid), with the time of the last change. Your photos are never part of this.
Deleting your account: in the app, go to Profile and delete your account. This deletes your sign-in and the stored favourites and preferences. Photos on your phone are not affected.
4. Advertising
PoseLab is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob (PoseLab Pro members see none) (banners, ads between screens, and optional video ads, for example to unlock a pose). To show and measure ads, Google may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, device model and operating system, and how you interact with ads.
- Tracking permission: iOS asks whether PoseLab may track you. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your advertising identifier is not shared and ads are less personalised. You can change this at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: you are asked for consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown.
Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Locked poses and "watch an ad to save" work with a video ad; the unlock is remembered on your phone only.
4a. PoseLab Pro (subscription)
PoseLab Pro is an optional weekly or yearly subscription. You buy, pay for, renew and cancel it through Apple's App Store; Apple handles the payment and we never receive your card or bank details.
When a purchase, free trial or renewal happens, the app saves a purchase record in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore so we can keep track of sales and help you if something goes wrong. The record has: the App Store transaction numbers, the plan (weekly or yearly), whether it was a trial, a purchase or a renewal, the price and currency, the purchase and end dates, your App Store country, the app version and, only if you are signed in, your PoseLab user ID and email address.
Whether Pro is active is checked on your phone with Apple. You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
5. Crash reports
If the app crashes, Google Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report so we can fix the problem. It contains technical details such as the device model, iOS version, app version and where in the app the crash happened. It does not include your photos, and we don't attach your name or email to it.
6. Usage statistics
To see how PoseLab is used and improve it, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase. It counts app opens, new installs and sessions, and records which poses and sections are opened, which poses are tried in the camera, and when a photo is saved (not the photo itself). It uses an app-instance identifier and device details such as model, iOS version, language and approximate country (from the IP address). It does not collect your advertising identifier, name, email or photos, and it is not used for ads.
7. Pose library and connection
The poses and their photos are downloaded from our content server (hosted by Cloudflare). Like any website, the server receives your IP address and basic request details to deliver the files. PoseLab needs an internet connection for this.
8. Notifications
If you allow notifications, PoseLab can remind you when new poses arrive. These reminders are created on your phone; we don't collect a push token. You can turn them off in the app's Profile or in iPhone Settings.
9. What we don't do
- We don't upload your photos or camera images.
- We don't sell your personal data.
- We don't use your usage statistics for advertising or share them with advertisers.
- We don't read your contacts, location or messages.
10. Service providers
| Provider | What for | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Authentication | Sign-in (optional) | Name, email, user ID |
| Google Firebase Cloud Firestore | Sync of favourites & preferences (optional); purchase records | Favourite pose IDs, preferences; Pro purchase records (see 4a) |
| Apple App Store | PoseLab Pro payments | Handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Usage statistics | App-instance ID, device info, approximate country, pose/section use |
| Google Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reports | Device and crash details |
| Google AdMob | Ads | Advertising ID (with permission), device info, IP, ad interactions |
| Cloudflare | Delivering the pose library | IP address, request details |
These providers may process data in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards.
11. How long we keep data
Account data (favourites and preferences) is kept until you delete your account. Crash reports are kept by Crashlytics for a limited time (currently up to 90 days). Usage statistics are kept in Google Analytics for 14 months. Pro purchase records are kept as long as we need them for our accounts and as the law requires. Photos stay on your phone until you delete them or the app.
12. Your choices and rights
You can use PoseLab without an account, decline tracking, turn off notifications, delete photos, and delete your account in the app. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, or privacy laws in India or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to its use. To ask, email svastsys.tech@gmail.com.
13. Children
PoseLab is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.
14. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Important changes will also be shown in the app.
